Week of June 1st

PBiS/Trauma Informed Focus of the Month: Be Safe
  • Summer Blast

  • Airborne Field trip

  • Chalk the Walk

Lunch Reminder
If a student in your homeroom does not take a lunch, their lunch ticket should not be placed in the basket. We need an accurate count of students who have truly eaten lunch. If they do not take one, take the ticket back with you to your room for the next day.

IEP Reminders
The special education department is now pulling IEP's at random to conduct compliance checks. We have had some reoccurring themes that need to be addressed. Please check your IEP's for the following, to be sure they are compliant (it may be good to have a friend look them over as well):

  • Be sure that all required signatures are on the IEP prior to handing it in to Amy
  • Completed IEP's should be provided to Amy no later than 3 days after the IEP has convened.
  • The PLAAFP should always include data that is not older than a year, as well as progress (or lack there of) toward current goals and objectives.
  • Any item stated in the "resulting needs" portion of the PLAAFP that is an accommodation, must be listed on the Supplementary Aides and Services page. Additionally, all accommodations listed must also be in a a "resulting needs" area of the PLAAFP.
  • We only fill in portions of the PLAAFP that are deficit areas for the students, based on current data.
Transportation Forms

For any student who is a Lincoln Park student, please be sure to complete the transportation form for next school year. Information can be found here.

Looking to next Year

In order to better serve our students in each classroom they transition to, we will be asking caseload teachers and social workers to collaboratively complete a spreadsheet for each classroom, listing current accommodations, reinforcers, strategies that work, as well as triggers for each student. This will be helpful to keep updated as plans change, and will also be helpful if you have them printed in your sub folder/binder for each hour (if middle school, high school, or specials teacher) so substitutes have a better understanding of each student. They should be uploaded into each teacher's folder in All Things Beacon, and also be printed for sub plans. You can find an example here. The caseload teacher only needs to complete it for their students, and then if you are teaching multiple periods, you can copy and paste the information from their caseload teacher's sheet to reflect each class period.
